Cold and colder - Eastern Cottontail Rabbits, male and female Hairy Woodpeckers, and House Finches spent the day hopping and flying around my backyard today. It’s cold outside, -6f, -17 wind chill in Murdock, Minnesota. Here is a Sharp-shinned hawk in a pine tree, visiting me today. The first hawk I’ve spotted at home. The bird is an adult, about two years. I had just enough time to take a few photos before the hawk took flight. Self portrait in the cold - Taking self portraits, or any portraits, are difficult when eye glasses darken in just moments exposed to outside light. I didn’t mind my lenses becoming dark, and was happy with results. It was about 23F, and snow likely in next days. There’s actually two layers of hats to keep warm, along with my down parka. I used a Canon GX7 III camera with wireless remote handheld to make this photo. I’m holding a Nikon Z7, the camera I photograph birds and wildlife. #minnesota #nikonz7
